The Comet Group and Bühler are to work together to develop applications based on ebeam technology.

Preliminary testing has been encouraging in terms of technical results and proof of partnership so the two partners have decided to exploit ebeam technologies in the medium- and long-term.

More details will be provided at Comet’s Investor Day in November.

Under Comet’s “ebeam” brand, the group offers ebeam sets used in the non-contact sterilization of beverage packaging.

Bühler said it was too early to disclose any details on applications, as work is still being done on several different aspects.

Ian Roberts, CTO Bühler, said Comet brings deep expertise in the technology.

“We are encouraged by our first steps together and although we are at the nascence of our partnership we are excited by the possibilities ahead.”

Comet recently worked with Tetra Pak to use electron beams (ebeams) to replace hydrogen peroxide H₂O₂, in its carton filling machines.
