I.DEA PACK has launched a tray-sealing machine to address the needs of factories that want a system where trays are moved with arms to sustain higher productivity rates.

The SCORPION 1200mm completes the product range which includes the small automatic tray sealing machine PUMA, the automatic thermoforming machines COBRA 320 and COBRA 420 and the small automatic thermoforming machine COBRA 660.

Packs per minute depend on the dimension of the die-set, the tray and the power of the backing system used but the firm said it is ‘aligned with the top tier brands in the market’.

Variety of sectors

Leonardo De Robertis, CEO of the company, said it is suitable for different sectors in the food industry.

“Due to the fact it is able to perform both skin and modified atmosphere packaging it is suitable for milk, cheese, mozzarella and fresh pasta packaging,” he told FoodProductionDaily at the IPACK-IMA trade show.

“It can work with transparent or printed film, so it has the system for printed film registration and it can run skin film.

“We are presenting a new system for tray positioning into the in-feed conveyor belt that does not use the photo cells that are very exposed and can be damaged by water when our client cleans the machine in their plant.”

I.DEA PACK manufactures automatic tray sealing machines and automatic thermoforming machines for tray packaging, with modified atmosphere and skin.

The firm is looking for partners to distribute products after start-up in Australia, South America, Middle East, Turkey, China and Europe.

COBRA range

On the automatic thermoforming machine COBRA 320, the firm developed a patented system that allows more depth while the width of the film remains small.

“We are able to have a depth of 15cm with a width of top film that is only 30cm,” said De Robertis.

“The lifting system has been patented and allows high depth so it permits our clients to replace preformed trays that are costlier with thermoformed trays that thermoformed by the machine only when they need to be.

“We are talking about saving on packaging costs that range from the 25% to 30% mark.”
