Top food firms and suppliers will gather to hammer out sustainability challenges at an upcoming conference.

The Innovation Takes Root International Conference and Ingeo Users’ Forum brings together representatives from food brand owners like Unilever and Danone, with suppliers such as 3M and Kimberly-Clark, to discuss issues associated with biopolymer packaging.

The program is lead by NatureWorks LLC, the company behind Ingeo plant-based resins. Topics on the roster include developments in fibers and nonwoven materials, emerging applications, advancements in flexible packaging and potential in rigid packaging.

All the attendees and the sessions focus on a single, broadly applied performance bio material,” said NatureWorks president and CEO Marc Verbruggen. “This shared interest generates excitement and lively discussions all throughout the conference hall.”

Stratasys, a 3D printing technology firm, will present information about the potential for use of biopolymers in 3D printing of packaging and other products. The technology is suitable for creating final packaging, as well as generating prototypes for display and testing purposes.

The events are scheduled February 17-19 in Orlando.
