Bold design for Scottish Prince

17-Jan-2003

Rockware Glass has produced the 50cl bottle for Scottish Prince 12-year-old malt, the flagship blend of Speyside Distillers.

The bold design features a deeply debossed label panel, bulbous neck and pronounced foot at the base of the bottle. It is decorated with aged-effect paper labels and is finished off with a black foil neck label.

The new presentation has been designed to meet the demands of the exploding Korean appetite for premium Scotch whiskies and in particular the "salon" club market where clients buy their Scotch by the bottle and are happier to buy a 50cl bottle instead of a full 70cl.

It is distributed in Korea by Jean Brothers.

The presentation was designed by Speyside with the close collaboration of Jean Brothers, who Rockware says will be commissioning another "ground up" design for a Scottish Prince 19 years old, early in the new year. It is also hoped that these line extensions will appeal to other Far Eastern markets where size "does matter".

Speyside, the proprietors of Scottish Prince, founded in 1955 by George Christie, is one of the few remaining independent distillers to have its own distillery and bottling operation. Scottish Prince and the single malt The Speyside are currently exported to over 60 foreign markets.
