Cereplast have expanded their line of resins suitable for the food packaging industry.

Hybrid 106D — a high starch, high melt flow polypropylene (PP) starch compound is a proprietary formulation of PP and starch blend that offers mechanical properties, a lower carbon footprint, ease of processing, and a highly aesthetic surface, said Cereplast.

The resin can be processed on conventional electric and hydraulic reciprocating screw injection molding machines for the manufacture of packaging.

Chairman and CEO Frederic Scheer said: "With their expansive properties and attractive environmental benefits, we believe that hybrids are the future of bioplastics.

“As such, we are committed to expanding our offering of Cereplast hybrid resins, and Hybrid 106D is the most recent innovation from our research and development team.

"Hybrid 106D pushes the boundaries of hybrid bioplastics by increasing the starch content without compromising performance."
