Tideworks Technology, a leader in terminal management software solutions, has supplied Dole Food Company with terminal management and container handling software at the company's 11 marine terminal locations in North, Central and South America.
Tideworks will integrate Mainsail Terminal Management System, a comprehensive terminal management system, and Spinnaker Planning Management System, a Windows-based graphical planning system with Dole's existing backend sales operations software. The first deployments will be complete in the fourth quarter of 2002, when Dole's new terminal in San Diego begins operating.
"Dole needed proven technology that could be integrated with back office systems quickly," said Michael Schwank, managing director of Tideworks Technology. "Tideworks' Mainsail and Spinnaker applications replace Dole's existing inventory system, giving terminal and sales personnel richer, more timely data. Dole can more accurately move its inventory, ensuring that bananas and other perishable items get to customers fast."
Mainsail Terminal Management System hands-on terminal management with Internet-driven technologies to help terminals maximize productivity and customer service. Spinnaker Planning Management System uses vessel, yard, and rail planning tools to enable terminals to quickly manipulate real-time container information into accurate, electronically dispatched orders for load, discharge, and yard moves.
"Tideworks has a tested technology that not only improves operating efficiencies, but also integrates with our existing systems to get data into the hands of the people who need it at our terminals," said Robert Brunner, Dole Food Company vice president of corporate sourcing and logistics.
