Goss packaging presses land technology honors

Goss has landed an InterTech Technology Award from the Printing Industries of America.

The company’s Sunday Vpak presses have been recognized with an InterTech Technology Award.

The award, given by the Printing Industries of America (PIA), is given to equipment manufacturers whose machines are deemed to facilitate innovation and performance in various aspects of the printing industries. This honor reportedly marks the company’s first significant recognition for innovation in packaging applications.

Technology achievement

According to Peter Walczak, Goss International’s director of product management for packaging presses, the award underscores the company’s position as a provider of top-notch technology.

It establishes Goss as a true innovator in providing a new print platform for the various packaging print sectors as well as in our more traditional sectors,” he said. “It also formally acknowledges successful application in the field with user evidence that supports the value proposition.

To qualify for InterTech Technology Award recognition, a product must be currently commercially available, outside of the beta-testing phase, and proven by use in industrial or commercial applications.

According to PIA judges, the Vpak presses give packaging producers an “alternative to exploit the print quality, productivity and lower image cost of the web offset process, especially for shorter-run or segmented folding carton, flexible packaging and label jobs.”

Printing prowess

The Vpak presses reportedly offer food packaging producers wide web width, and an infinitely variable repeat range. Also, the press reportedly can be used with a broad range of film, paper, and board packaging substrates for flexible and rigid food packaging.

The PIA award comes closely after the opening of the Goss Packaging Technology Center, at its New Hampshire headwoarters. The center features a Vpak 500 press, with seven web offset units, EB and UV curing and flexo-coating capabilities, and other capabilities for testing and training.
