Rexam has launched a new range of poultry trays for large-scale meat processing operations. Developed in conjunction with the poultry category manager Grampian, the company believes that its new S range is an exciting format that offers many tangible benefits on conventional EPS trays.

The company felt that poultry packaging has long been in need of an overhaul, and spent six months and £1 million (€ )developing the product. The result is a complete range of trays developed specifically for the poultry market.

The trays are designed for film lid sealing, ensuring the pack is leak free and eliminating the risk of contamination caused by leaking poultry juices. The poultry can be packed in a modified atmosphere, improving both freshness and shelf life, and a fresh design ensures that both logistical crate and retailer shelf space are better utilised.

Rexam is already supplying the new S range to several of the UK's leading poultry packers and to packers on the continent.
