Heinz is withdrawing six varieties of infant food sold in pouch and spout packaging in Canada due to a potential packaging defect.
The recall was triggered by a consumer complaint but there have been no reported illnesses.
The defect could allow the entry of spoilage microorganisms.
Peas zucchini spinach, sweet baby vegetables, beef bolognese with vegetables, beef butternut squash rice spinach, tuna sweet corn chowder and butternut squash apricot peas couscous in 128mL are affected .
Health Canada said that the health risk associated with the consumption of the products is ‘very low to remote’.
Heinz Canada said it is taking immediate action to ensure that any affected product is removed from store shelves.
“We recommend that consumers do not consume the affected product and contact Heinz for a full refund.
“We apologize for any concern or inconvenience this action may cause.”
