ITW Muller is extending a savings program to food manufacturers and packaging partners looking to conserve costs on stretch-wrapping products.

The Wrap ‘n Ship program from IL-based ITW Muller gives new customers a discount of up to 20% when they buy a wrapper and film. The program includes its GW-1200 turntable stretch wrapper and GW-4100 robotic pallet wrapper.

Affordable wrapping

Michael Klear, ITW Muller marketing director, told FoodProductionDaily.com that the program helps food makers and packers improve wrapping without breaking the bank.

Food manufacturers and packaging partners can have access to affordable equipment with a small film commitment,” he said. “It is a very simple program designed to maximize consistency and minimize headaches in a production facility.”

Klear added that the wrapping units require no preventative maintenance to keep pre-stretch levels up. Further, no intervention is needed to maintain the necessary balance between force and film payout, he said.

Adding automation

Other reasons to consider the Wrap ‘n Ship program, Klear said, relate to enabling users to make the switch from hand wrapping loads to automation.

The first major benefit is the labor savings;  both of our machines are designed to be started, and then allow the operator time for a simultaneous task,” he said. “The second benefit is guaranteed consistency; our machines will always  apply the exact same amount of wrap each and every time at the same force unless programmed differently.”

Additionally, automating the wrapping process increases operator safety, Klear said.

Hand wrapping is a very hard job, and it could cause unnecessary stress on the  back and shoulders,” he said.

Film commitment

To get in on the discount, food firms need to commit to purchasing at least eight pallets annually of GaleWrap oriented film. The material offers lighter weight and better durability than conventional 70-gauge films.

Additionally, food processing and packaging operations signing up for the program lock in the current film cost per load over the life of the machine. The film reportedly performs well in cold conditions and resists puncturing and tears.
