United Silicone and Multi-Color says their Impulse-HT machine is capable of precise ink-only heat transfer labeling at speeds of 300 containers per minute.
The machine offers the ability to transfer photographs as well as brighter and sharper images to a wide size-variety of two-sided plastic and glass blow moulded containers for manufacturing flexibility.
Its manufacturers say the machine is particularly suited for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and high density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic containers, since the process is flameless.
The manufacturing industry has increasingly used PET and HDPE as an alternative to glass due to its lighter weight and convenience.
Since the ink-only heat transfer decoration eliminates the need for open flame treating before and after labeling, it cuts costs and increases manufacturing safety.
Multi-Color is hoping high-speed ink-only labeling system will phase out applied ceramic labeling (ACL), which requires high volumes to be cost effective.
In a press release Multi-Color's president, Don Kneir, said the process would revolutionise the decorating process.
"Now our customers can have it all," he said. "The optimum no-label look, reliable high speed application, and safe, flameless operation in any environment including the filling line. It's a game-changing, cost-effective solution."
The machine will also be able to rapidly reproduce an acid-etch effect without the high costs, dangers and environmental impacts that result from the use of hydrofluoric acid.
