Novipax to invest in a padded tray production line in Indianapolis
The line will complement its existing production lines and will be operational in early 2016.

The new tray line pre-attaches absorbent pads onto trays for poultry and other processors, decreasing packaging-to-store shelf cycle time.
Jeff Weingart, VP Manufacturing, Novipax told FoodProductionDaily, the pads will absorb a lot with little material to control excess moisture.
“We are absolutely delighted to be installing a new production line. Adding capacity builds confidence in our customer base and investing in the business is good for our employees,” he said.
“This investment is consistent with our strategy to grow and improve our business. While we will not comment on specific investments, we have initiated capital projects exceeding $1M in our first 90 days.”
Level 2 recognition from the SQF Institute
Weingart added the company has a range of customers who will benefit from the investment, such as manufacturers who pack large sizes, such as family packs.
“We are now developing our long term capital plans which will include adding capacity as well as upgrading existing equipment,” he said.
“We have some new and exciting absorbent pad products in the pipeline which we hope to introduce to the market later this year or early next year.”
The company recently announced all five Novipax manufacturing facilities have received Level 2 recognition from the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Institute.
Its facilities are located in Indianapolis, Indiana; Paxinos and Reading, Pennsylvania; Rockingham, North Carolina; and Grenada, Mississippi.
Recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GSFI), the SQF program, administered by the Food Marketing Institute (FMI), creates one standard for food producers, manufacturers, distributors, and brokers.
