Near-record attendance at the recent Pack Expo trade show heralds the consumer goods sector’s growing confidence in the economic recovery, said organisers PMMI.

The Packaging and Machinery Manufacturers Institute said the show, which took place earlier this month in the US city of Las Vegas, attracted 22,721 visitors - making it the second most attended Pack Expo since it was launched in 1995.

"Given the economy this year, we are extremely pleased with the turnout," says Charles D. Yuska, president and CEO of PMMI. "Trade shows mirror the industries they serve, and the strong attendance may indicate an economic recovery as consumer goods companies leverage the show for their capital equipment investments and packaging innovation efforts."
