Pallet trucks aimed at long-term corrosion fears

A new development in pallet trucks designed for transporting products in extreme and corrosive food manufacturing environments can offer processors an extended product lifecycle, according to its manufacturer.

The Raymond Corperation, a US-based global supplier of plant transporting products, says that it has developed three trucks as part of its Extreme Environment Corrosion Package, designed for salty, high-moisture and wash down environments.

With food manufacturers under increasing pressures to comply with ever stricter hygiene procedures, the use of products that can potentially damage logistics and production equipment can be a major problem.

Jeff Leggett, director of the group's pallet truck division, claims that the latest range of trucks has been designed with protected galvanised features in a bid to reduce operational costs by improving the lifespan of the trucks

"This package - with its galvanized frame, parts and linkages - is built to withstand the harshest applications, where trucks are subject to corrosive agents and frequent wash downs," he stated.

The trucks are therefore suitable for use in a variety of food processing environments, including poultry, meat and fish processing; cold storage; and chemical processing, according to the company.

To better meet the specific demands of individual food manufacturers, Raymond says that its latest range of trucks come in three different varities.

These include both a 4,500lb and 6,000lb walkie pallet truck, and a 6000lb end rider truck for various stacking and loading requirements at a plant.
