Eco-One, which is an organic additive that enhances the biodegradation of plastic products in a biologically active landfill, has achieved compliance with the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA).
Additives for the enhanced biodegradation of nylon, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polypropylene (PP) and clear-moulded polypropylene were approved for food contact use.
Additives for the enhanced biodegradation of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) also received ANVISA compliance earlier this year.
Eco-One, which is produced by EcoLogic, has shown 5-15% biodegradation within 30 days in biologically active landfills, according to independent testing.
“As we anticipated, we have achieved compliance with the ANVISA resolution for additional grades of Eco-One, bringing the total number of Eco-One additives compliant with the resolution to six,” said EcoLogic vice president of technology Duane Buelow.
“This allows our current and future Brazilian customers to expand their use of Eco-one to include many additional applications that involve contact with food.”
