A new range of air conditioning systems designed to specifically cool food processing equipment have been adapted to offer improved corrosion protection in both internal or external environments, their manufacturer claims.

Kooltronic says that its panel mounted Profile Guardian Series of air conditioning units were particularly suited for use in processing environments that require high-pressure hose-down and clean in place (CIP) applications.

Besides being sealed against a number of conditions that could affect its operations, Coulton claimed that the air conditioners also used epoxy-coated condenser coils as well as a resistant coating on all exposed surfaces to protect against corrosion.

According to the company, all three air conditioners in the series - the DP33, DP43 and DP47 - have been rated as NEMA 4/4X enclosures, which due to their design, can better protect against factors including rain, ice, dirt and even hose directed water.

The NEMA rating is one of many electrical standards set out by the US-based National Electrical Manufacturers Association in a bid to ensure safety and quality.

Company spokesperson Steve Coulton told FoodProductionDaily.com that air conditioning was a vital tool in preventing shut down on a production line due to overheating of electrical packaging and process machinery controls.

To prevent disruption to the air conditioning unit, the DP33, DP43 and DP47 products have all been designed with an optional stainless shell to provide further protection from hose down cleaning and the weather.

The company says that the total Profile series of air conditioners includes thirteen different products that range in height from 17 to 60 inches and with heat capacities from 1,500 upto 26,000 British thermal unit (BTU/H).

The products are available worldwide, the US-based company said.
