Alfa Laval $7.7m Brazil deal

Alfa Laval will be supplying processing equipment for a soybean oil refining plant in Brazil.

This includes heat exchangers, which allow heat to pass from one product to another without direct contact, and mixers and separators.

The order is worth SEK 50m ($7.7m).

Alfa Laval told FoodProductionDaily.com it was not able to disclose the name of the company.

Brazil is estimated to overtake the US as the world’s largest producer of soybean during 2014, according to the US Department of Agriculture.

The estimated crop for early 2014 is 88 million tonnes, which is 3 million tonnes ahead of the US forecasted output.
