On February 19 and 24, Corporate Auction Group (CAG) will sell off hundreds of pieces of surplus equipment and supplies from ConAgra Foods plants throughout the country.

The first auction will take place Thursday, February 19, starting at 10am Eastern Time (US). CAG staff will conduct the live auction theater-style inside the former Carriage House Foods plant in Dunkirk, New York.

ConAgra acquired the plant in late 2012 when it purchased Carriage House Foods. The company closed the facility last October, citing inefficiencies and excess capacity, according to local news sources.

“People can visit Bidspotter.com to see the entire catalog of equipment and supplies we’ll be auctioning,” a CAG spokesperson told FoodProductionDaily. “Each piece of equipment is highlighted and interested parties can sign up to participate in the bidding.”

Equipment on offer

A wide variety of equipment and supplies will be up for bid in the Dunkirk plant auction, Luna said. Processing equipment includes 1,000-gallon 316 stainless steel processors, stainless steel jacketed tanks, 150- and 200-gallon stainless steel kettles, batch tanks, flow meters, pumps and motors.

Related machinery, such as metal detectors, checkweighers and conveyors, are also on the auction block. Packaging equipment to be sold includes an automatic palletizer, a pallet shrink wrapper, and a vertical cardboard baler.

An entire mayonnaise filling line, designed for 8oz jars, is up for bid. It includes a descrambler, a filler, a capper, a labeler, a case packer, and a 2005 Moen bliss cartoner.

Also available are dozens of pieces of sanitation and support equipment, as well as shop and maintenance equipment. A new parts inventory valued at $150,000, including electrical components, bearings and control technologies, is also on the block.

On Tuesday, February 24, CAG will host a second auction to find new owners for “excess” processing and packaging equipment from 10 ConAgra Foods facilities in nine states. Those states are Arkansas, California, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah and Washington.

That auction will be online only.

Branded processing equipment on deck for that auction includes a Proctor continuous belt dryer, Urschel dicers, a Grote pepperoni slicer, a Poly-Clip linker, an APV extruder, a Sweco vibratory sifter and a complete Rheon 48-inch sheeting line. Also for sale are commercial microwave ovens and convection ovens, a nitrogen tunnel freezer, and various stainless steel mixing tanks and conveyors.

An Angelus can seamer, a Ropak Express-Pak vertical sauce pouch filler, an Arpac wrapper and a Lantech pallet wrapper are among dozens of packaging machines in the auction. Cartoners, conveyors, ink-jet labelers and other equipment will also be available.
