A new food-grade lubricant will not stain or cause packages to become greasy and is harmless to most rubbers and plastics, its manufacturer claims.

CRC says its Chute Lube lubricant is delivered by a powerful spray which allows users to apply the product in difficult to reach areas.

Inclement weather in receiving areas can create major problems such as traffic jams and crushed and damaged packages, the company says.

Chute Lube has a special additive that allows the cross linked silicone blend to get to the surface of the package handling equipment. The lubricant is a formulated blend of silicones, cross linkers and oils designed to lubricate package handling equipment, food processing equipment, chutes, guides and rail conveyors.

"It won't sit on top of water like other silicone sprays," CRC claims. "It eliminates the binding and sticking of packages and boxes while protecting most surfaces. As moisture continues to build on surfaces, reapplying Chute Lube sets down the film again to keep things running smoothly."

The surface coating is colourless and odorless. Chute Lube is available in 20 oz aerosol cans. It can be used in a wide range of temperatures and is certified by the US-based NSF for use in meal and poultry plants.
