Food-grade lubricants stand up to processing applications

Sprayon has launched a line of NSF H1-rated lubricants, designed to operate in a range of food processing applications.

The line includes 12 allergen-free lubricants engineered to withstand heavy load pressures, resist water washout, offer low flammability ratings, and endure very high and low temperatures. All of the lubricants are packaged in aerosol dispenser cans.

Expanded options

Leo Chippy, Sprayon product manager, said food processing managers have not had many lubrication options in the past.

“Even though the equipment and machinery used in food processing facilities faces many of the same lubrication challenges found in other non-food processing plants, the food processing industry has traditionally been limited in its choice of lubricants,” he said. “An NSF H1 rating meant sacrificing protection and usually a shorter lubricant life.”

Lubrication performance

According to the company, the line of lubricants offers high dielectric strengths (up to 47,500 V), FDA Title 21-approved formulations, kosher and rapidly biodegradable versions. Additionally, lubricants formulated with PTFE reportedly reduce friction, wear, and energy consumption of processing and packaging machinery.

In addition to the NSF H1-rated lubricants, the manufacturer offers food-grade synthetic grease, degreasers, mold releasers, and other materials. The products are geared toward food processing plants and other manufacturing environments.
