The packaging-centric group is adding processing machinery makers to its General Member roster.
PMMI tipped its hat toward an increased focus on processing in 2013 with the tagline and descriptor The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies. This month, the group’s members voted to expand its General Member definition to include North American processing equipment makers—the first change to the category since PMMI’s founding in 1933.
Charles D. Yuska, president and CEO of PMMI, said the change marks the group’s commitment to providing a broad range of technological solutions.
“As The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, expanding the General Member category to include North American processing machinery manufacturers is a logical step,” says Yuska, “To support our members and their customers, we must take the same total systems approach they do. It’s the same philosophy that informs PACK EXPO’s customer-centric approach.”
PMMI produces PACK EXPO, the annual exposition focusing on packaging machinery, materials, and services. The event includes The Processing Zone, a specialized exhibit area focusing on processing machinery and technology.
