UK-based Armfield has launched a larger version of the company's miniature-scale dairy research equipment, allowing bigger batches of test products to be made.

The company's new FT94X mini pilot-scale processing system extends the range of their scaled down dairy equipment.

Production can now be made from 50 to 100 litres an hour. Until now the company's miniature scale research equipment processed up to 20 litres an

hour.

"It enables larger batches of material to be prepared for more extensive product trials," the company stated.

The FT94X is designed for operation as both a stand-alone unit and for integration into a full processing system. The system can be used for the aseptic packaging of processed product.

The system offers plate and concentric tubular heat exchanger options. The plate heat exchanger incorporates the latest plate profile technology, the company claims.

The tubular heat exchanger is designed to operate with a wide range of food viscosities. Both are designed for straightforward scale-up.

The FT94X is powered by steam. The product is pre-heated by a steam-heated water circuit to prevent heat shock.

The product's main heating is by steam through the heat exchanger surface. Both product pre-heat and heating temperatures are automatically controlled and set points are defined by the user.

The FT94X incorporates full cleaning-in-place and sterilisation-in-place procedures.
