A tough keyboard and mouse combination is built for the kinds of chemical wear and tear for those working in laboratories or who are checking food safety on site.

InduKey's new InduProof keyboard and optical mouse are both encased in silicone covers, making them highly resistant against chemicals, the company claims. The cable connections are made of anon-spiral, smooth and sealed data cables.

The base of the two devices are made of a sealed metal plate, which protects them against the use of harsh cleaning fluids and disinfectants. Both keyboard and mouse are rated under industrystandards as standing up to full liquid immersion.

The combination of an industrial grade, rated optical mouse with an equally protected keyboard allows users to take advantage of the precise control of an optical pointing device with completeprotection against dust and liquids.

Both gadgets use mechanical keyswitches for better tactile feel in low light situations and for increased durability, InduKey stated.

Both the InduProof keyboard and InduMouse pointing device have been tested by the Institute for Microbiology & Hospital Hygiene at the clinical center of the Phillipps University in Marburg foruse in hygiene sensitive environments such as labs and food processing applications, the company stated.

"These tests show that these data input solutions are best suited for use in hygienically critical and sensitive areas that require spraying and wiping disinfectant and cleaning solutionson the surfaces of the keyboard," the company stated.

InduKey is based in Germany.
