UK ports and authorities advised of stricter melamine tests

16-Oct-2008

The UK Food Standards Agency wrote to all UK ports and local authorities on Wednesday to advise them of a European Commission decision for stricter melamine testing.

Composite foods, such as biscuits and cakes, were previously subject to testing if they contained more than 15 per cent Chinese-sourced milk products, but some EU member states had reported difficulty determining exact levels.

Now all composite foods containing Chinese milk products require testing.
