FDF not unamused by Queen’s speech

03-Dec-2008

The UK’s Food and Drink Federation is on-board with the Queen’s speech, delivered today, since it the Children, Skills and Learning bill she outlines would help bridge the skills gap.

A lack of skills and interest amongst young people in food technology is a cause of concern for the industry. A major drive is underway on both sides of the Atlantic to attract new talent to food and drink manufacturing, to help secure the sector’s future.

FDF has said it will work with Improve, the Department for Innovation Universities and Skills, the Institute for Food Science and Technology, Defra and others to improve food science and technology courses and to raise its profile of food technology as a career.
