Ecolab reaches deal to expand Asia-Pacific operations

27-Sep-2010

Ecolab Inc has announced plans to expand its Asia-Pacific division after reaching a deal to purchase Cleantec, an Australian manufacturer of hygiene products for the food and beverage industries.

The US-based company said it had agreed the transaction with Cleantec owner Campbell Brothers, of Brisbane. No financial details were available about the takeover which is subject to approval from Australia’s anti-trust authorities.

Cleantec, which has sales of around US$55m, develops, manufactures and markets cleaning and hygiene products mainly for the Australian food and beverage processing sectors. It also caters for the food service, hospitality and textile care markets.

"Australia is a strong and stable market for Ecolab, and this acquisition complements our existing Australian business very well,” said Douglas M. Baker, Jr., Ecolab's chairman, president and CEO.
