One of the Gippsland recalled products

Gippsland Sprout Co recalled Gippsland Sprouts Co Salad Sprouts - Alfalfa, Onion and Mung Beans; and Flowerdale Farm Alfalfa Salad Sprouts - Alfalfa, Onion and Mung Beans due to E.coli contamination.

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) said both products were in a 120g, plastic clam shell shaped package and had a use by date of 23 January.

Food Recalls 2012

This year has been quite eventful for recalls of food and beverage products, some due to foodborne contamination and others due to packaging faults.

We have seen Fonterra recalling butter due to metal contamination, Britivc withdrawing Fruit Shoot because of a packaging fault and Sunland Inc. being at the centre of a salmonella outbreak from peanut butter.
