Bonduelle, Freeze Dry, Yancey’s Fancy, and Chassix in pilot mechatronics training program
The project will be headed up byCNC Technical Solutions (CNCTS) in partnership withThe Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) and Genesee Community College (GCC).
Maintain and repair automated systems
All automated systems require maintenance, programming and periodic repair. Participants in the mechatronics program will learn to apply microelectronic skills to maintain and repair automated systems that are in 21st century manufacturing facilities.
“CNCTS has been providing technical training services, as well as engineering and technical support /integration services for industries including food manufacturing for over 15 years,” said John Nappa, president, CNCTS.
“The program was developed and refined by our engineers, technicians and technical writers to service a variety of customers. In this case, the program uses a public consortium approach, which allows companies of all sizes to pool their employees into a training class without negatively impacting plant operations or breaking the budget.”
Two phases of training
The program will have two phases; 136 hours of training delivered in 17 eight-hour sessions beginning on March 4, 2015 and taking place every Wednesday through to June 24, 2015.
Phase two will begin in September and will take place one day a week for 17 consecutive weeks.
Currently enrolled participants include employees from Bonduelle, Freeze Dry, Yancey’s Fancy, Chassix (formerly Automotive Corp.) and Associated Brands.
"Like many local businesses, we are struggling to find talent with electrical and mechanical technical repair skills. We have identified an individual from each of our three local facilities to attend this program to build these important skills for our business," said Janice Jones, director of Human Resources, Bonduelle USA.
All training sessions will take place at the CNCTS training center located at 460 E. Center St. in Medina from 9am-5.30pm.
