Drinking straws shaped as glasses have been recalled in more than 20 countries including Ireland because Di(2-Propyl Heptyl) phthalate (DPHP) was detected.
DPHP is a phthalate and is not authorised for use in food contact materials in the European Union.
The EU RASFF portal reports it was found in levels of 31g/100g in a notification from Germany with a sampling date of 17/1/2014.
The drinking straws were distributed to Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Faeroe Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
The product came from China and the affected product has batch code: 16462; article number: 93/2017 and bar code: 4029811191796.
