Food recalls cost billions each year
In the US alone, according to a New Jersey PIRG study, food recalls and foodborne illnesses bear an annual price tag of approximately $77 billion (including discarded product, revenue, healthcare costs, lost wages and litigation and other expenditures). The damage to a company’s reputation, while harder to measure, can be even more devastating.
