Food processing firm Lansal is voluntarily recalling hummus manufactured for Target and Trader Joe’s due to Listeria concerns.

Lansal (doing business as Hot Mama’s Foods) is voluntarily recalling approximately 14,860 pounds of hummus and dips, due to possible exposure to Listeria monocytogenes. The plastic containers of hummus and dips were all produced at Lansal’s Texas production facility.

Routine testing

According to the company, the presence of Listeria was detected during a routine test by the Texas Department of Health in Target Archer Farms Traditional Hummus. The contamination also has affected other hummus products, layered dips, and hummus-based wraps, distributed to stores nationwide.

No illnesses associated with the contaminated hummus and dip products have been reported to date.

Lansal reports it has contacted all of its retailer and distributor customers affected by the contamination. Additionally, the firm has reported the incident to the state health departments, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and local authorities, working with all affected parties to get the affected containers out of distribution and off shelves.
