red24assist has launched a web-based tool designed to enable food professionals to locate shortfalls in their safety programs.
red24assist’s Gap Analysis Tool (GAT) is an online method for food companies to pinpoint gaps and vulnerable areas in their safety programs.
Paula Piontek, red24assist’s executive vice president of the Americas for product safety and recall, told FoodProductionDaily by locating problem areas, food managers can elevate their safety programs and minimize exposure.
“The GAT is designed to help companies assess their vulnerabilities in areas that red24 assist sees when dealing with global food safety compliance,” she said. “The tool is designed to help food and beverage companies identify gaps in their systems that red24assist can help them negate.”
Piontek said the GAT can be used to size up a range of food operations.
“The red24asist team developed the GAT to be used as an assessment of food, beverage, and food service industries,” Piontek said. “The GAT is designed to assess against global food safety best practices.”
According to Piontek, red24assist’s GAT tool is intended to be a reference document for companies developing food safety programs and/or to evaluate their supplier compliance requirements with these standards. The assessment can be applied to a single location, or across an operation.
“Each company location can take the assessment along with the corporate personnel,” she said. “Upon completing the assessment, the manager will receive a report highlighting the areas of vulnerability in both visual chart form and comments from the sections of vulnerability to compliance.”
The report, Piontek added, includes suggestions on how the food operation can tackle vulnerability in their safety programs. red24assist employs numerous subject matter experts to support various industries in areas of food safety, food defense, legal and crisis support.
