Intertek has received IEC/ISO 17025:2005 accreditation for the film and packaging industry from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA).

The accreditation complements Intertek’s existing capabilities for plastic film, including mechanical, thermal, and optical properties.

An accreditation like this is a critical step in the completion of Intertek’s strategy to offer a wide range of advanced film and packaging testing for the medical, food, industrial, and consumer goods industries,” said James Galipeau, director, Intertek’s Pittsfield laboratory.

ISO 17025:2005, the international standard by which a laboratory’s commitment to quality is evaluated, considers management and technical expertise and continual product and process improvement.

To achieve this accreditation, Intertek demonstrated competence in water vapor transmission rate and oxygen transmission rate testing for advanced barrier films used in transportation, energy, medical, and consumer goods, as well as specialized flexible film tests applications, including Gelbo-Flex and hot seal strength/hot tack testing.
