The Pacific Sunrise Ventures Gold Star Food Safety Maintenance Program is designed for HACCP- and GFSI-certified operations.
The program, according to PSV, can help food folks brace themselves for recertification audits and unannounced government inspections. In addition, it is organized to assist in avoiding product recalls and litigation that can drain profits.
Al Kernec, PSV cofounder, said that with the Food Safety Modernization Act creating all sorts of new and revamped regulations, being prepared is the name of the game.
“If an organization’s food safety program is not current, facilities can be shut down,” he said. “Unprepared companies also risk costly recalls and civil, or even criminal, litigation.”
PSV is staffed by trained consultants that can visit a food facility to go over compliance with food safety programs; thoroughness of document management; policies, practices and procedures; and readiness for periodic certification audits or FDA inspections.
If managers and the PSV team agree that training is needed, the consultants can provide the necessary instruction. Additionally, the safety experts at PSV provide phone consultations when questions or the need for advice arise.
The Gold Star Food Safety Maintenance Program is tailored toward the needs of each client. It is engineered to help US-sited operations in keeping up their safety programs and readiness level to ensure smooth sailing with FSMA and FDA “
“Every company has different requirements,” Kernek said. “We work together with each organization to establish a unique maintenance program that meets their specific needs and budget.”
