Mettler Toledo is backing comprehensive food safety education and strategy at its upcoming Food Safety Exchange.
The company specializes in technology for food safety and quality, including checkweighers, x-ray inspection, laboratory instruments and more. At the Food Safety Exchange, sponsored by Mettler Toledo, event organizers are hoping to bring experts from various aspects of the food safety sphere (certifying agencies, food manufacturers, laboratory staff, consultants and more) together to hammer out important issues.
Kim Susor, marketing manager for product inspection at Mettler Toledo, told FoodProductionDaily during the recent International Production and Processing 2014 event that safety is a top-of-mind concern for nearly everyone in the food business.
"The Food Safety Exchange is going to bring together a lot of top experts, to discuss what's important in food safety today," she said.
The two-day forum (scheduled June 17 and 18 in Philadelphia) will consist of several sessions tackling regulations, supply-chain issues, risk assessment and more. Additionally, attendees at the focused event will view topical exhibits and network to discuss safety problems and concerns common to food professionals.
During the opening keynote, for example. Victor Muliyil of SGS North America will outline crucial aspects of the Food Safety Modernization Act and how to comply with the complex regulatory changes. In another, Jane Griith of ASI will cover food safety supply chain management, FSMA and SQF.
Registration for the Food Safety Exchange is $100 for both days. Additional information is available on the event site, www.fse-event.com.
