An innovative method for the detection of foodborne aerobic bacteria will soon be available in Europe after a certification process of over a year.
The GreenLight total viable count (TVC) method, which automatically detects microbial contaminations in food and beverage samples, has been verified and certified for use with raw meats and poultry by MicroVal.
The MicroVal certification comes over 12 months since its release in the US.
MicroVal validates and approves alternative methods for the microbiological analysis of food and beverages.
FoodProductionDaily.com reported in October 2010 on the product, which was developed by Luxcel Biosciences, and its release by US-firm Mocon Inc.
“After a successful launch in the United States, the MicroVal certification will now enhance our ability to market GreenLight series instrumentation across Europe,” said Luxcel CEO Richard Fernandes.
“The rigorous independent testing of the GreenLight microbial test methodology provides further validation of its ability to perform precise tests for bacterial loads in raw meat and poultry.”
