Avery Dennison €7m film coating and laminating plant expansion
The facilities include a tandem silicone/adhesive laminating line, an additional slitting area and a shipping hall, increasing its top coating capacity by 50m², adding 33% to its operational space.
Growing demand
Angelo Depietri, vice president and general manager, Avery Dennison Materials Group Europe, told FoodProductionDaily the investment is an important development for the firm.
“We made this investment to respond to a growing market demand for filmic products with ultra-high levels of clarity and cleanliness,” he said.
The expanded Gotha facilities allow us to meet expected short term increases in demand and to support longer term growth.”
As well as converting existing offline machines, silicone and adhesive coating and laminating are now carried out using an integrated inline process. The tandem coater machine is housed in a closed-off and separated area, under positive air pressure.
Dust-free coating area
The dust-free coating area ensures minimal contamination, improving product surface quality and cleanliness for enhanced printability.
Depietri added the finishing space is now larger and separated from coating and laminating for more efficient material flow handling. Allowance has also been made for in-sourcing of warehousing for a quicker response time.
“Our customers will benefit from improved effectiveness and efficiency not only of our own operations but theirs. We are now able to optimize our wider European film coating operations, creating an increase of overall laminating capacity in Europe,” he added.
