Environ sets up Polish office

Environmental and health sciences consultancy, Environ is strengthening its European presence by opening an office in Warsaw, Poland, according to Ian Bailey, president of the company's European operations.

The company said that it had recruited two Polish nationals the operation, which now adds to the company's network in Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, UK, the US, and Asia Pacific.

The office is the first in the Central and Eastern European region and aims to serve, amongst other industries, the region's burgeoning food and beverage sector relating to human health and environmental issues. These are areas of growing importance for Poland and the region, particularly in the light of fast approaching accession, which will see a number of the region's countries having to fall in line with EU regulations for food safety.

 

Environ develops solutions to a broad range of human health and environmental risk issues related to the presence of chemicals in the environment; in foods, drugs, medical devices and consumer products; and in the workplace. The Polish operations will offer services in the areas of soil and ground water assessment and remediation; EH&S compliance audits; risk assessment; IPPC and other permitting assistance; environmental management; and water and wastewater studies.

 

Currently the company has practices in more than 40 office in the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific. With respect to food and beverage the company works with both food packaging and food itself. Its scientists support clients on a variety of nutrition issues, including intake estimates of proposed new ingredients, nutritional evaluation of bioengineered food crops, and intake determinations of botanical ingredients.
