A European Food Network set up by 12 freight operatives to transport food consignments in the non-frozen sector plans to add more partners offering transnational logistics.

The cooperative, which was set up at the Transport Logistics Trade Fair in Munich this month, will work across 21 countries from October this year.

The food market is becoming more and more trans-European – and so are we, over half of all food logistics tenders we receive have a trans-European character,” said Alfred Miller, managing director, Dachser Food Logistics.

Retailers and producers nowadays are increasingly looking beyond national boundaries when it comes to planning their distribution structures.”

The Network will launch a Vivengo product line, which includes ‘Vengoflex’, covering consignments with a greater time margin and ‘Vengofix’ for immediate delivery services.

It also has ‘Vengospeed’ offering short, defined transit times with daily collections and ‘Vengospeed 11’ and ‘Vengospeed plus’ targeting urgent consignments or special customer needs such as Sunday and public holiday deliveries or extra tours.
