The UK’s Food Standards Agency (FSA) is warning food business operators about a potential financial scam to extort money from potential rice exporters to the UK.

Emails using the FSA Scotland name are being sent to companies interested in exporting rice to the UK, demanding information and payment of a £650 registration fee.

If a food business operator receives emails claiming to be associated with the FSA, they are advised to not send any money but to report the email to foodfraud@foodstandards.gsi.gov.uk.
