A new food processing plant due to be completed later this year will allow UK processor KK Wholefoods to expand its vegetarian food operations and begin production of a new range of organic and meat dishes.
A report in the Daily Post said that the Welsh company was planning to move production to the £2.5 million site at the Deeside Industrial Park in October, creating around 50 new jobs in the process.
The paper said that the five-acre site on the park left the company with further room for expansion. The company's owner, Leyla Edwards, told the Post: "Our workforce will double to 100 within five years and I anticipate that our turnover, which is under £3 million at present, will rise to the region of £8 million. We will have the production capacity to achieve that and we know our customer base.''
The new KK Wholefoods plant will cover 22,000 square feet, and will cost £1.2 million to construct. A further £1.3 million has been set aside for land acquisition and for fitting out the plant.
