INCPEN speaks to FoodProductionDaily.com at Emballage
Packaging is like a mirror to social developments, fashions and trends which enables constant response to innovation, according to INCPEN.

Jane Bickerstaffe, the director of INCPEN (The Industry Council for Packaging and the Environment), told FoodProductionDaily.com at Emballage 2012 in Paris that there was a more holistic approach, looking at the functional properties alongside improving the environmental ones.

She said that in some instances the industry has gone too far in reducing the packaging and gave the example of light plastic bottles.

Sustainable consumption and production is the target for the regulators with companies already responding and operators in the supply chain driving the trend, she added.

INCPEN is a research organisation, which draws together companies who share a production, distribution, and consumption sustainable vision including Linpac, DS Smith, Rexam, Amcor, Coca-Cola, Unilever, Nestlé, Diageo and RPC.
