Theegarten-Pactec, confectionery packaging manufacturer, is expanding and moving to a new office.

The company, which specializes in the design and construction of packaging machines for products including hard candies, toffees, chewy sweets, chewing gum and chocolate, will break ground on a 50,000 m² project at its existing site, in Dresden, Germany, in Spring 2014.

The firm currently employs 350 staff but plans to create 50 jobs thanks to the expansion, which is set for completion by mid-2017.

The project represents a huge challenge for us alongside our day-to-day business activities. But we are looking forward to tackling it as it will enable us to secure our future,” said Markus Rustler, managing director, Theegarten-Pactec.

We have outgrown our existing premises and our aim is to supply the best machines and lines for our customers in line with their requirements over the long-term.”

The plus €30m investment will be sub-divided into several construction phases, to build production facilities and office space, while on-going operations remain on-site.

Theegarten-Pactec manufactures around 120 packaging systems consisting of machines and feeding components a year, in Dresden. A total of 90% of the lines are for export.

Rustler said the previous buildings were used for the production of a large series of individual machines but now the emphasis is on small series combined with complete automated feeding and distribution lines.
