The Banner U-Gage M25U ultrasonic sensor is rated to international durability standards IP69K and IP67. It is constructed of heavy-duty 316 stainless steel, with a 25mm smooth barrel housing that’s free of threads, gaps and seams to facilitate fast and efficient cleaning, said the company.
It toughness means that the sensor is resistant to frequent high-pressure washdowns, aggressive cleaning chemicals and severe temperatures, making it perfect for a wide range of demanding environments where sanitisation is the key to success in the food and drink sectors, according to Banner.
The sensor is said to be particularly suited to applications in food processing where easy, efficient cleaning is important and aseptic bottling in contained environments.
“The M25U is the ideal solution for many challenging applications, such as clean-in-place procedures, that require reliable sensing in washdown environments,” said Mark Lampert, Banner’s food and beverage business development manager. “It delivers all the advantages of conventional ultrasonic sensors – utilising sound waves to detect the presence of targets – while providing the most durable, robust design on the market. The ultrasonic technology also allows the sensor to reliably detect clear objects.”
The sensor has a wide operating temperature range of -20° to 70° C and can withstand sprays up to 80° C and 1500 psi occurring every few hours, said the company.
The Banner U-Gage M25U can be programmed for normal-speed for a longer sensing range or high-speed for a shorter response time. That makes the sensor ideal for fast counting requirements, said Lampert.
Also, IP68-rated washdown cordsets and brackets compliant with Food and Drug Administration standards are available to mount the sensor.
Banner Engineering manufactures ultrasonic and photoelectric sensors, vision sensors, indicator lights, wireless networks, electronic machine guarding systems, fiber optic assemblies and precision measurement systems.
