Carbon Capital Markets® launched in 2005 with €16 million equity, headed by CEO and Founder Lionel Fretz. We are authorized and regulated by the Financial Services Authority to provide carbon related financial products and services to companies affected by the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) and wider Kyoto Protocol. Our core business areas are carbon emissions trading and carbon finance.

Our highly successful European trading desk, headed by Reuben Maltby, buys and sells EU Allowances (EUAs) for companies that have an allocation of CO2 allowances under the EU ETS. Our growing asset management business, headed by Karen McClellan, has a long term strategy to invest private equity in Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI) projects.

Our major shareholder is Grupo HLC, a diversified Portuguese industrial company that develops environmental projects in waste, water and renewable energy. The Chairman of HLC, Horácio Carvalho, is also Chairman of Carbon Capital Markets.
