Packaging group Charapak will widen its product range with the acquisition of Derby-based Octopus Collation Solutions.

Charapak, whose manufacturing operations are also based in Derby, makes corrugated packaging and promotional displays.

Octopus makes contract packaging, which includes food and cosmetic gift packaging. This includes products for occasions such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.

Other services are design and development; and processing and delivery for mail orders.

Octopus will become part of the Charapak Integrated Fulfilment division.

This is an important acquisition which will enhance our offering to the market,” said Richard Smith, managing director, Charapak.

Octopus provides an ideal fit and its particular expertise in areas such as gift packing will be a valuable addition to our portfolio.

Corina Beardsmore, MD, Octopus, will stay with the business as a consultant to the Integrated Fulfilment division.
