Exhaust system cleans air in commercial kitchens

The Grease Viper, an industrial air cleaner from NC-based Trion Indoor Air Quality, removes grease, smoke, odor and other emissions from the air in industry cooking environments.

The Grease Viper system can be fitted with multiple filter stages to remove both particulates and odors. It most frequently is furnished with automatic water-wash components for electrostatic precipitator filters, odor control sections, exhaust fans and other components for a comprehensive pollution control system.

System applications

The system is intended to address stringent federal, state and local environmental codes. The design permits side-wall discharge in compliance with federal fire protection criteria, which avoids ductwork and the associated inspection and cleaning.

According to Colin O’Connell, vice president of sales and marketing for Trion, the company works better and more efficiently than competitive systems in a wide range of applications.

“It offers a flexible and compact design that fits applications from small deli style kitchens to large food processing facilities,” he says.

Parts of the system

Components of the system include

  • Electrostatic cells with spiked ionizers and ceramic insulators
  • Solid-state power supplies
  • Water-wash components
  • Integrated PLC controls for sequencing of automatic wash
  • Remote status panel with LED indicators
  • High-capacity odor control panels
  • Fan package
  • Optional fire suppression coverage
